Lee Eichen is a founding principal of Centerboard Group. He co-leads the firm’s advisory, private equity and asset management businesses and is responsible for client relationships and deal execution. He is currently advising the Department of Justice on financial matters arising in connection with the Bernard L. Madoff Ponzi scheme and leads the management of a portfolio of forfeited real estate assets on behalf of the U.S. Marshals Service. Recent transactions include representing the trust holding the mezzanine loans on 21 hotels in the bankruptcy case and resulting sale of Innkeepers, the sale of a minority ownership stake in the New York Yankees and the formation and funding of Accelerated Oil Technologies, a joint venture between Centerboard and KKR for oil and gas investments.

Prior to Centerboard, Mr. Eichen was at Banc of America Securities for nine years and was Managing Director and Head of M&A for Real Estate, Gaming, Lodging and Homebuilding. He also led the bank’s institutional private placement business. Previously at Banc of America, he focused on M&A transactions for the general industrial coverage universe, including chemicals, transportation & logistics, aerospace & defense, capital goods and diversified industrials. Prior to that, he worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Salomon Smith Barney, where he completed transactions in various sectors, including energy, health care, metals and mining, and technology. Mr. Eichen’s M&A experience spans a wide variety of transaction types and includes mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, recapitalizations, fairness opinions, valuations, takeover defenses and hostile transactions. He has executed over $100 billion in M&A advisory and restructuring related assignments, including the acquisitions of Equity Office Properties and Hilton by The Blackstone Group, the acquisition of Archstone Smith by Tishman Speyer and Lehman Brothers, the sale of Extended Stay Hotels by Blackstone and the sale of CNL Hotels & Resorts to Morgan Stanley and Ashford.

Prior to investment banking, Mr. Eichen was a practicing attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.

Mr. Eichen received a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in economics from Harvard University in 1989 and a Juris Doctor cum laude – Order of the Coif from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1994.

Michael Maloney is a founding principal of Centerboard Group. He co-leads the firm’s advisory, private equity and asset management businesses and is responsible for client relationships and deal execution. Mr. Maloney sits on the boards of Accelerated Oil Technologies and Roughneck Lodging and oversees Centerboard's investments in Black Spruce Exploration Corp. and Ptarmigan Energy assets.

From 2003 until 2009, Mr. Maloney was a Managing Director at Banc of America Securities focusing on the Chemicals and Natural Resources Sectors. Prior to that, he worked in the Natural Resources Investment Banking Group for JPMorgan. Mr. Maloney has advised on over $35 billion in mergers and acquisitions and manages over $300 million in assets.

Mr. Maloney received a Bachelor of Arts in economics and classics from Colby College in 1994 and an MBA from Weatherhead School of Management in 1999. He currently serves as Treasurer and sits on the Board of Directors for the Westport Weston Family Y.
